Are You Up to The Challenge?
Wilbur and Orville Wright were two individuals who changed the world. Their minds worked in mysterious ways and just from one small idea, they made a major difference in the world. They started out as bicycle mechanics, and they ended up being the first ones to invent, build, and fly the world’s first airplane. Even though there were others who had attempted this great invention, no one was as successful as the Wright Brothers. They pursued their dreams of flying, despite running into many obstacles and failures. Before finding success with this development, they attempted flying many times, and each time there was something that did not go quite right. However, they continued to improve their design and they never gave up. That is one of the most important lessons in life: never give up.
There will be days where you just feel as though everything is going wrong. We have all had those days. You woke up late, traffic is bad, you are trying to meet a deadline, work is hectic, and there are so many chores to do. All of these things can turn a good day into a bad day. However, if we try to keep a positive attitude in everything we do, our days can be so much happier. I find that when I let the small things get me upset, my whole day just goes downhill. If I would just take a minute to breathe, approach the situation calmly, analyze what went wrong, and figure out how to fix it, it would make my day run a lot smoother. You shouldn’t want to live with regrets about how you acted in regard to a situation. Always stay positive and be the best you there is.
So, you have $86,400 in your account and someone stole $10 from you. Would you be upset and throw all of the $86,390 away in hopes of getting back at the person that took your $10? Or move on and live? Right, move on and live. See, we have 86,400 seconds in every day so don’t let someone’s negative 10 seconds ruin the rest of the 86,390. Don’t sweat the small stuff, life is bigger than that. -Unknown
When attempting to brainstorm new ideas for a project, sometimes my mind just goes blank. We don’t all have that creative bone in our body, and some of us just don’t have an eye for design. That is absolutely acceptable. Everyone is not going to be perfect at everything. We all have special talents and abilities that God has given us, and sometimes it just takes a little digging to find out what those are. Once you realize what gifts God has given you, you can use them for amazing things. The great thing about everyone being different is that we can all come together and form something amazing with each of our different talents. Sometimes you just have to see someone else’s idea or hear their thought in order for your brain to spark an outstanding idea. There is nothing wrong with piggybacking off of another thought. That is what the Wright Brothers did in their design process. A seed was planted in their minds and they formed an incredible creation from it. Use your brain to develop things like never before. The world needs more innovators, so let the next Steve Jobs or Bill Gates be you.
“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a follower.” –Steve Jobs
Have you ever used a certain item or product and you were just not satisfied with the performance? Me too, we have all been there. So, what did we do about it? In my case, most of the time nothing. However, there is so much we can do! It is our duty to make the world better. We are not helping at all if we just sit around and complain about how things are not right or how we do not like something. We can change the world, but we must have people willing to step up and put in the work. Innovate products, re-design features, and don’t be afraid to share your ideas! You may believe that your idea won’t work or it is not good enough. Never think that, because no idea is too small or unimportant. You never know if something better will arise from one simple idea. Everyone can bring something valuable to the table.
Many of us today are scared of failure, myself included. We don’t want to be wrong, fail at something, or make a mistake, we just want everything to be perfect. We are perfectionists. I am a perfectionist. It is okay that you want things to go smoothly and not have any problems, but don’t let that stop you from trying new things. Step out of your comfort zone, brainstorm some new ideas, let your hands create something powerful, and see where that leads you. Don’t be afraid of failure. Wilbur and Orville Wright would have never been able to fly the first plane if they quit after the first time they failed. Failure is a part of learning and growing. Extraordinary things can be accomplished when you challenge yourself and see what great lengths you can go to.
“Fall seven times, stand up eight.” –Japanese Proverb
